Answer:
In this 4th one-man exhibit of Dante Enage, the mixed media artist presents “Balaraw”, a Waray-waray term which means circle or round. Dante uses circles as symbol for unity, wholeness and infinity. Concerned about the world he lives in, most of his subjects are about nature and climate change. He communicates with the Earth and expresses his thoughts through colors, shapes and artistic ideas. He believes in a quote of Andy Goldsworthy, “We often forget that we are nature. Nature is not something separate from us. So when we say that we have lost our connection to nature, we’ve lost our connection to ourselves.” Also, the layers of circle aim to send a message to everyone, reminding us that the struggles we go through are temporary and one day, we will no longer shed tears when we look back on the days we mourned. As a super typhoon Yolanda survivor, Dante said that life must go on, we should always keep moving and be ready to deal with life’s changes. Almost 3 years after the catastrophe, from the physical scars of Tacloban to the psyche of its residents, things are slowly coming in full circle. We are going back to normalcy and with the faith of Taclobanons, the city is becoming a better place for our children.
