The relationship between mathematics and music is given by the application of these areas, for example, the frequency of mathematics is used to understand musical structure, mathematics is used to interpret musical scales and so on.
The first person who experimentally identified the relationship between mathematics and music was Pythagoras.
To reach this conclusion Pythagoras observed the existence of a relationship between the sounds emitted and the weights of hammers that were used to make the sound.
Pythagoras strained a string, in order to divide it into equal parts, in order to observe the same proportions produced the same sound intervals, establishing relationships between mathematics and music.
