Hey! This is merely a brief explanation. We can infer from the provided example, the orange pie, that the entire pie is a complete note/rest and that this whole note/rest has a value of 4 beats. Let's start with the first two beats in the attached version of my response. A half note/rest is contained in a note or rest with two beats. You just draw the note or rest.
