GCF (Greatest Common Factor)
GCF is the largest positive integer that can evenly divide the two (or more) of given numbers. One of the ways to determine the value of GCF is to find out the value of the common factor. The largest number in the common factor is called the greatest common factor. Common factor is a number that will divide the two (or more) of given numbers completely.
How to find the value of common factor- Write all the factors of given numbers and compare the factors of each number (factors are the numbers that can divide the number completely).
- Write the factors number which are common to the given numbers. So, this value are called common factors of the given numbers.
Example:
Its given 4 and 8, the common factor are?
Solution by factorization
The factor of 4: 2, 4
The factor of 8: 2, 4, 8
then, both 4 and 8 have 2 and 4 as their common factor.
How to find the value of greatest common factorWe only need to find the largest number in the common factor so that's why it called the greatest common factor (GCF)
Example:
Its given 4 and 8, the greatest common factor are?
Solution by factorization
The factor of 4: 2, 4
The factor of 8: 2, 4, 8
then, both 4 and 8 have 4 as their greatest common factor.
