The result of a scientific experiment involving a CD and a flashlight.

CD is the abbreviation for Compact Disk. This device was really popular back then, when the technology was still scarce. It acts as a storage space with limited capacity, and usually does not exceed 1GB. Nowadays, it is pretty rare for someone to use a CD to store their digital assets, but it's certainly still being used to this day.

According to the Britannica website, a CD has this reflective metallic layer on its side, with plastic made of acrylic on the other side. The goal of using this material is to protect the disc from any scratches. Now, let us go on the activity described in the original question:

I found out that the compact disc reflected the light produced by my flashlight, so I guess it works similar to a mirror. However, the reflection being reflected was pretty colorful, unlike the reflection produced by a mirror. In addition, the side of the CD that succeeded in reflecting the light from the flashlight is the one with a reflective metallic layer, whereas the other side does not produce any reflection at all.

In conclusion, the material of a CD allows it to reflect the light which is pointed at its surface, and it produced colorful reflection, and it was almost pretty, since the light of the living room I was in has been turned off, making the reflection the only light visible.
