I would give him/her some advice on what to do. I would say something like this: “First of all, if you want to get out of here with your job intact, you have to follow the rules. If you don’t know them, go ask your boss. Second, if you don’t want to be fired, then listen to me. You know the rules, and so do I.
The most important thing is for you to explain why he should listen to you. The reason is because you are the one who knows the rules better than anyone else. You already know what they are and how they work. If he doesn’t understand why he needs to listen to you, then he won’t listen. It might even make him angry and resentful, which will turn into problems later. What you want is for him to trust you and believe that you are telling the truth.
